Gang Arrested For Stealing Copper Wires From Delhi, Noida Metro Stations; Six, Including Four Rohingyas Arrested

A gang of six miscreants, among them four Rohingya men, have been busted by the Delhi Police for alleged thefts of copper wires from various metro stations in Noida and Delhi, reports Times Of India.

The modus operandi of the accused was to use a hasp to get over the station walls.

The accused who have arrested by the police were residents of Kalindi Kunj colony and had a number of theft cases registered against them at the Okhla police station.

The four Rohingyas have been identified as Ashokur Rehman, Mansoor Rehman, Najeer Ahmad and Lala alias Alihasan. Their two other accomplices are Aslam Sheikh and Zubair Malik.

During the arrest, 246 metres of copper wires valued at close to Rs 10 lakh, a Swift car, a scooter and 16 copper pieces were recovered from the accused.

Equipment which was likely used to conduct the crimes, including a cable cutter, three axes, two knives, a rope as well as a country made pistol along with two cartridges were recovered by the police.

The arrest was made close to the campus of Amity Global School in Sector 44 on Sunday (3 February).

The four Rohingyas were also found possessing identity cards issued by the United Nations High Commissioner For Refugees (UNHCR).

The arrests come after numerous complaints from the Noida Metro Rail Corporation and other authorities about the thefts from metro stations located on the Aqua Line.
