AirlineRatings, the global airline safety and product rating agency, rated Jet Airways at the top of the ‘product’ category with a full 7/7 score in the full-service carrier category, reports The Hindu.
The product category is rated from 1 to 7, with seven being the highest for the full-service carriers, while the low-cost airlines like IndiGo, Air Asia etc are rated out of five. Out of five, IndiGo and SpiceJet scored four each and GoAir has got 3.5. Air India is the highest with five out of seven score. Vistara Airlines was not rated.
The yardstick for a product category is personal in-flight entertainment, cabin space and comfort, beverages, food, seat recline, website information, etc.
In the category of safety, Air India, Go Air, Indigo, Jet Airways and Jet Konnect, all received a six on 7. With three on 7 rating, Air Asia India and SpiceJet are ranked lower.
“The product is core to our business and a competitive differentiator across the industry. The quality of the experience determines whether guests travel with us or another airline. As a result, we are constantly innovating to ensure that we remain the gold standard of product excellence in the aviation industry,” a Jet Airways spokesperson said.
AirlineRatings, started in June 2013, is the industry standard for safety and product rating with usage in 232 countries.
