Goa Civil Services: State To Get Its Staff Selection Commission Soon Says CM Pramod Sawant

The Goa BJP government is in the process of setting up a State Staff Selection Commission (SSSC), Chief Minister (CM) Pramod Sawant has told the state assembly, as reported by Hindustan Times.

“The previous government (under late Manohar Parrikar) had started the process to have SSSC. We will complete it,” Sawant said replying to a query during the Question Hour in the House.

While assuring that the current vacancies in the government staff was being filled in transparent manner he said that the government sector alone cannot meet the employment needs in the state.

“At present, there are 55,000 government servants, and we can add a maximum of 10,000. Where will the rest go,” Sawant said, imploring the private sector to meet the job demand.

He also said that the an Inter Departmental Committee of Officers (IDCO) is currently working to determine the exact number of vacancies in government departments and written exams conducted by the Goa University and the Goa Education Development Corporation will be used to fill the posts transparently in absence of the SSSC.
