An auto-rickshaw driver in Gurugram was fined a whopping Rs 32,500 by traffic cops after he was found carrying absolutely no mandatory vehicle documents and breaking the traffic signal, Times Now has reported.

The auto-driver Mohammed Mustakil a native of West Bengal was travelling in Gurugram when he decided to jump the signal and then was stopped by the cops.

After the cops sought to inspect his vehicle documents it was found that he was neither carrying his Driving License, vehicle registration certificate, vehicle insurance, pollution certificate and nor did he have a security number plate. The cops also decided to book him for dangerous driving.

The auto driver reportedly requested the cops to allow him to go home and get the documents but they did not budge. As a result, Mustakil was fined a total of Rs 35,500. In the earlier fine regime he would have been fined around Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000.

Here is the breakup of the fines:

  • Jumping traffic signal – Rs 5,000
  • Driving without a license – Rs 5,000
  • Driving without registration certificate – Rs 5,000
  • Driving without third party insurance – Rs 2,000
  • Driving without air pollution certificate – Rs 10,000
  • Dangerous driving – Rs 5,000
  • Security registration number plate – Rs 500

He would now be required to go to the district court to pay the fine and get back his vehicle. He would engage a lawyer in the hope that the fine amount would be reduced.

It was reported yesterday (3 September) that a two-wheeler driver had been charged Rs 23,000 as penalties for breaking traffic rules.
