A police constable in Gurugram was dragged for almost a kilometre by a speeding car as he clung to its bonnet after the vehicle broke through a barricade at a checkpoint in the city, making this third such incident in the past one month, reports The Tribune.
According to the report, police constable Vikash Singh had suffered injuries on both his legs and is undergoing treatment in a hospital. The incident took place at Sector 65 on Monday (14 January) when Vikash intervened to stop a speeding Hyundai Verna at the checkpoint but instead of stopping, the driver hit him as he tried to flee from the spot.
The constable fell on the bonnet of the car and clung tightly on to a wiper for a kilometre until the driver stopped the vehicle. As the vehicle stopped, Singh fell off the bonnet following which the driver escaped.
When the car approached the barricade, Singh came in front of the car. The driver, instead of stopping the vehicle, sped away after hitting him, said Shamsher Singh, ACP of Crime Branch and PRO of Gurgaon police, India Today has reported.
