‘Heckling In-Flight Can’t Be Allowed’: Delhi HC Throws Out Kunal Kamra’s Petition Seeking Lifting Of Flying Ban

The Delhi High Court on Friday (20 March) refused to entertain the petition filed by comedian Kunal Kamra against the flying ban imposed on him by Indigo, Air Vistara and several other airlines for heckling journalist Arnab Goswami during a flight from Mumbai to Lucknow in January.

The Delhi HC observed that Kamra’s “behaviour of heckling in-flight cannot be allowed,” reports ANI.

The comedian was banned by Indigo Airlines on 28 January after he heckled Goswami aboard a Mumbai-Lucknow flight. Following this, civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri had advised airlines to not entertain such behaviour.

"Offensive behaviour designed to provoke & create disturbance inside an aircraft is absolutely unacceptable & endangers safety of air travellers," Puri had said.

Indigo later reduced the ban period from six months to three months.

After Puri’s intervention, other airlines including Air India, Go Air and Spicejet also banned Kamra from flying.

Earlier last week, Air Vistara also imposed a flying ban on Kamra after Indigo inquiry found him guilty of heckling Goswami, reports Hindustan Times.
