Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who is in Srinagar to take stock of the situation in the aftermath of the deadly attack on a CRPF convoy yesterday (14 February) which martyred more than 40 soldiers, lent his shoulder to carry a coffin carrying the mortal remains of a CRPF soldier, reports ANI.
Singh can be seen carrying the tricolour wrapped casket along with several uniformed soldiers to be placed inside a truck. Also providing a shoulder is J&K DGP Dilbagh Singh.
The Pulwama attack is one of the deadliest terrorist strike on security forces in the history of the Jammu & Kashmir insurgency.
The attack was carried out by a suicide bomber using a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED); he rammed his explosives-laden SUV into a convoy of CRPF vehicles travelling on the Jammu-Srinagar highway.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken out strongly against the attack, calling it despicable, and has indicated that retaliatory measures will be taken. “The sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain. The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of the brave martyrs,” he stated.
