Hopeful Of ‘One Nation, One Test’, Multiple Test Cycles To Relieve Exam Pressure On Students: NTA Chief Vineet Joshi

National Testing Agency (NTA), director general, Vineet Joshi has said that he’s hopeful of a 'one nation, one test’ policy being implemented in the near future, reports The Times of India.

To counter the argument that such a system will lead to added pressure on the students, he suggested the introduction of multiple testing cycles, with students getting more chances to improve their performance.

"This will also to an extent decrease their dependence on coaching classes, where students rush to complete their syllabus owing to the fact that entrance exams are conducted on a different level than what is actually part of the school curriculum," he Joshi.

He also said that most of the entrance exams are confined to the subjects and do not test the thinking ability or problem-solving skills of the candidates. This can be resolved by introducing tests on the lines of Scholastic Assessment Tests (SAT) that are predictive of the students’ success post exam, and during the graduation, he added.
