BeAble Health, an Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT-H) incubated startup, developed a gamified arm rehabilitation device for neuro-rehabilitation of stroke victims and motor rehabilitation of victims with upper motor deficit, reports Times of India.

According to the report, a press release by IIT-H said the ‘ArmAble’ was recently unveiled by NITI Aayog’s vice chairman Rajiv Kumar during the seventh foundation day celebrations of Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) at Delhi.

BeAble Heath’s 'ArmAble' is aimed at solving a pressing need for intensive, engaging and regular rehabilitation therapy for upper limb. It is aimed at conditions such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, fracture and frozen shoulder.

As per the report, during the founder day celebrations, ‘BIRAC TiE winner award for women’ was awarded to Akitha Kolloju, who is the co-founder of HEAMAC healthcare - another startup incubated by IIT-H’s Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE).

“The successes of these two entrepreneurs is a testimonial to the Systematic Biodesign Process that they followed at the CfHE starting from the identification of the unmet need to the Launch of the product validating their concept and carefully addressing the risks at each stage of product development,” co-head of CfHE and head of IIT-H’s Biomedical Engineering department Renu John was quoted in the report as saying.
