IIT-Kharagpur will soon launch a course on Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning for both engineering students and working professionals reports Indian Express.
To commence from March of this year, it will be not only be conducted at IIT Kharagpur but IITs of Bangalore, Karnataka and Hyderabad, says P P Chakrabarti, Director, IIT Kharagpur.
Chakrabarti stated that a rigorous AI programme for professionals is most necessary. The curriculum is designed by IIT Kharagpur faculty itself, with consultation from industry experts.
“The certificate programme by IIT Kharagpur is aimed at strengthening India’s talent pool in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence,” said Sudeshna Sarkar, Head of Centre for Artificial Intelligence at IIT Kharagpur.
With IIT Kharagpur setting up the Centre for Artificial Intelligence earlier this year, it’s honing the skills of engineers in its latest technologies. The course will attract working professionals as well as senior students.
Comprised of 16 one-credit modules and one capstone project, the classes will be taken by experts from IIT Kharagpur, industry and other academic institutions.
Some course modules are designed to cover mathematical and algorithmic foundations and artificial intelligence fundamentals. Others will carefully cover statistical and machine learning methods.
