In Pakistan, a police officer was stabbed by a member of the Tableeghi Jamaat with a knife in a bid to escape on Sunday (29 March), as per several reports.
As per Dawn.com, the administration of Layyah district had gathered several Tablighi teams and declared the local Markaz a quarantine centre for 235 people.
Some people, however, tried to escape. When the local police in-charge, Mohammad Ashraf Maakhi, reached the spot, a Tableeghi Jamaat member stabbed him with a knife and escaped.
The local Superintendent of Police Atif Nazar took to Twitter to share details:
The Dawn.com report says the condition of the cop is said to be stable. The accused were arrested later from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The report says at least 27 out of 25 members of the Jamaat screened at Tableeghi Markaz in Raiwind area tested positive for Covid-19 on Sunday.
