The Indian Space Research Organisation has released the first images of the Earth taken by its Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft. The images were captured using the LI4 Camera on the Vikram Lander.

The Chandrayaan 2 mission is India’s second project to explore the lunar surface. The lander and the rover will make a soft soft landing on the surface of the lunar south pole.
Moreover, the spacecraft has successfully completed four orbit raising manoeuvres already, and the final one is planned for 6 August.
If the soft landing is successful, it would make India only the fourth country in the world to have achieved such a feat on the surface of the moon and will be a massive boost for the Indian space programme.
