Indian Army Strikes Pakistan’s Border Action Team, Kills Five Enemy Soldiers

Special forces of the Indian Army on Wednesday eliminated a Pakistani Border Action Team (BAT) comprising of five enemy soldiers, Livemint has reported.

Citing a government official, the report said that the Anti-BAT offensive was conducted along the Line of Control in Muzaffarabad sector by the Army’s Para (Special Forces), a special forces unit of the Army's Parachute Regiment tasked with unconventional warfare missions.

“General Bipin Rawat has given the go-ahead to the Para (SF) to conduct a search and elimination operation of BAT teams of Pakistan. Heightened low-grade warfare is likely to take place this summer,” the official said, according to Livemint.

“We will not wait for more of our men to die along the border or for more soldiers to be mutilated by Pakistan before we take action,” the official added.

Although the Army has not released an official statement, its chief spokesperson Ashok Narula has said that such assaults were part of a “routine exercise”.

“These are routine things. They keep happening. Things have not escalated because it’s part of a routine exercise,” Narula was quoted as saying.
