Amid the atmosphere of growing tensions between India and Nepal, an incident in Uttarakhand’s border district Pithoragarh has once again displayed the generosity of the Indian authorities and the district administration.

Indian authorities ordered the opening of the International Jhula Bridge to help an ailing girl, who hails from Nepal, get timely treatment after a serious phase of medical complications. The suspension bridge was opened for 20 minutes to help her get medical aid in India.

The opening of the bridge helped her family arrive in Pithoragarh for her treatment in the wake of her deteriorating state.

The family appealed to the Pithoragarh district administration with the help of social workers in Nepal for help. Indian authorities and the district administration swung into action in order to help the family. The family has thanked the Indian authorities. From a medical facility in the Dharchula area, she would be reportedly taken to a hospital in Pithoragarh for treatment.

Reportedly, the opening of the bridge saw 138 people commuting between the two nations. This report mentions that SSB inspector Kashmir Singh has informed that the bridge was opened for the girl’s treatment. In addition to her, there were other people who wanted to commute. Looking at the seriousness of the situation, Indian and Nepalese authorities discussed the matter and the bridge was opened for 20 minutes after both sides were convinced.

Earlier, the bridge was opened to help two Nepali men take their father, who was missing since June, back to Nepal.
