Indians Are Flying More Than Ever Before: Domestic Air Traffic Up By 20 Per Cent In September, Beats China, US

As per reports by International Air Transport Association (IATA), for the forty-ninth consecutive month in September, India's domestic air passenger traffic grew in double digits, reported Hindustan Times.

India's Revenue Passenger Kilometres (RPK) was highest among the leading aviation markets like Australia, Brazil, China, Japan, Russia and the US. RPK is a measurement for the domestic air passenger volume.

Following India’s passenger traffic growth was that of the Russian Federation closing at 11.1 per cent and China closing at 9.3 per cent.

According to statistics, as compared to the corresponding month the previous year India's domestic RPK in this month under review rose by 19.8 per cent, while that of China's was 10.3 per cent and the US saw a 8.6 percent rise.

The international passenger demand for September edged higher by 7.2 per cent as compared to last year. IATA’s Director General and Chief Executive Officer Alexandre de Juniac said that severe weather in America had a small impact on healthy passenger demand in 2018, leading to another above-trend growth path.
