Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Anil D Sahasrabudhe has stressed the need for interface between industry and academia. While addressing a workshop organised at a private engineering college in Kolkata, Sahasrabudhe said the council had been trying to encourage more industry-academia interface in order to boost innovation in entrepreneurship.
Furthermore, he added that mandatory internships and induction programmes be implemented in colleges for students of engineering. Major changes and modifications in the AICTE-approval process handbook 2019 have been put in place by the council in order to further strengthen technical education in India.
Times of India reported that the handbook was given out to technical institutions so that they can send applications to the council for the conduct of technical programmes that include management courses for the upcoming academic year.
Present at the workshop was also Dr A V Salunkhe, Regional Officer and Assistant Director, Eastern Regional Office.
