A new survey conducted by Gujarati Matrimony, a web-based matchmaking service offered by Bharat Matrimony has revealed interesting information about Gujaratis’ matrimonial choices, including that a majority of individuals from the community find their spouses online, reports Deccan Chronicle.
The survey size was of 1.5 lakh members, about 69 per cent of whom were men and another 31 per cent were women.
The greatest number of members hailed from Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Jamnagar while there were also a large numbers of profiles of individuals from outside the state from cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Thane.
Among the women, 64 per cent were in the 18-29 age group, while around 30 per cent fell in the 30-40 category. About 22 per cent were part of the 30-35 cohort. As for men, 71 per cent of them were in the age group of 21 to 30, and 22 per cent aged between 31 and 40.
A large number of users, around 16 per cent, were NRIs, of whom 72 per cent were male and 28 per cent were female.
80 per cent of the men had created their own profiles, while that percentage was only 62 per cent for women.
Most common occupations listed by members of the website were software professional, manager and executive.
