The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested a member of an Islamic State (IS) like model, which was reportedly planning a terror attack in Delhi and areas around. Muhammad Absar, 24, was arrested by NIA on 11 January (Friday evening) post searches in three locations in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur and Meerut, with aid from state police.
According to an NIA statement, the arrested person is from Meerut and was a teacher at Jamia Hussainia Abul Hassan in Hapur.
"The accused will be produced in the NIA Special Court in Delhi on Saturday for police custody," said an NIA statement.
NIA arrested 10 members of an IS module on 26 December last year including mastermind Mufti Mohammad Suhail from Uttar Pradesh after searches in the state and Delhi, reports Business Standard.
NIA has seized 25 kg of explosive material including ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, mobile phone circuits, sugar material paste, 51 pipes, Rs 7.5 lakh in cash and IS related literature.
