Pakistan’s newly sworn-in Prime Minister, Imran Khan’s inaugural speech in the National Assembly failed to impress Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Shah Khursheed Shah.

As per an ANI report, the PPP leader discounted Khan’s inaugural address and further went on to controversially state that the speech gave the that Lalu Prasad Yadav was the new Prime Minister’s political mentor.

Khan’s inaugural address to the National Assembly was witness to frequent disruptions by opposition members, and it is reported that the Pakistani Prime Minister lost his cool on more than a few occasions due to the pandemonium in the House.

Taking a further potshot at Khan who swept to power promising a ‘Naya Pakistan’, the PPP leader is said to have remarked that, “if this is Naya Pakistan, then God may have mercy upon us”.

Khan managed to win the maximum number of seats in the 25 July general elections basing his campaign on the plank of anti-corruption and national revival. While falling short of a majority, his party managed to stitch a coalition and stake claim to form the Government.

Khan was selected by the National Assembly lawmakers as Prime Minister on 17 August and was sworn in as the twenty-second Prime Minister of Pakistan on the next day (18 August).
