Rajendra Singh, a 22-year-old soldier, was killed after miscreants threw stones at a convoy of the Indian Army while it was passing through Kashmir’s Anantnag. The incident took place on 25 October.

Singh was in the quick reaction team, the group that was assigned to provide security to officials from Border Roads Organisation (BRO). He passed away in hospital on 26 October.

India Times quoted an official as saying, “Although Rajendra was given first aid and taken to the 92 Base Hospital immediately after the incident occurred around 6 pm, he succumbed to his injury.”

Rajendra Singh joined the army two years ago and was the only child of his parents. He hailed from Pithoragarh in Uttarakhand. He is one among three soldiers who have been killed in different incidents in the last couple of days in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

At a ceremony held by the Indian Army, the soldiers paid their respects to the departed. This was attended by J&K Director-General of Police Dilbag Singh and other representatives from various security agencies.
