Actor Rajinikanth has confirmed that he will not be contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and his political party, Rajini Makkal Mandram won't support any political party, reports The Hindu.
"Tamil Nadu assembly elections are on our focus," The Hindu quoted Rajini as saying in a statement.
“One of Tamil Nadu's main issues is water. For the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, I would urge people to introspect and vote for whichever party they think can form a stable government at the Centre as well as solve Tamil Nadu's water crisis,” said Rajini.
He also urged his supporters to not use the Rajini Makkal Mandram's flags or logos during campaigns for the upcoming elections.
" My party will not support any political party in the upcoming parliamentary election to any parties. People should refrain from using my photo or flags in the name of Rajini Makkal Mandram, and Rajini Fan Club to support or campaign for any party," the statement read.
Rajini Makkal Mandram was set up as a prelude to his proposed entry to politics at the beginning of 2018 and was aimed at bringing together all his registered and unregistered fan clubs.
