Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa Donates One Year’s Salary For Covid-19 Relief

BySwarajya Staff

Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has announced that he would donate his one year’s salary for Covid-19 relief operations in the state and urged ministers, MLAs, MPs and other officers to contribute in whatever capacity to the CM Relief Fund Covid 19.

The state has been leading the Covid battle in the country and was the first in the country to set up an entire 1700 bed hospital for Covid cases in Bengaluru. The state’s tally of Covid cases has risen to 101 on Tuesday with 90 active cases as of now.

Two instances of cluster transmission have emerged in the state. One is a family where all members of a family in Hosapet in Baalari have tested positive without any travel history. But the family could have been in touch with a family in Rajajinagar or Rajarajeshwarinagar, said Karnataka’s Additional Chief Secretary, Health Jawaid Akhtar, as quoted.

The second cluster is of employees of a pharma compnay in Mysuru who is also said to have no travel history to any Covid affected nation. This case is being investigated as the first case is not known to have any contact with a corona affected patient either.

While until yesterday it was being speculated that it could have been a case of a possible infection through a consignment that arrived from China, but Akhtar has written off the possibility. He confirmed that the packages from China arent the source and that they were checking to see if the company had visitors from other countries who could have possibly infected these employees. The entire town of Nanjangud has been under lockdown for the past two days with around 900 employees under home quarentine.
