Karnataka’s count of Corona positive cases stands at 128 with four new cases detected today (3 April). Three of the four new cases are those who have attended the Tablighi Jamaat event in Nizamuddin.
The three who took part in the event from 13 to 18 March have been isolated at the designated hospital in Belagavi, a district which had seen no cases until today.
Of the 14 new cases that the state saw yesterday (2 April) 11 were traced back to the Tablighi event. Ten of them are from Bidar while one is the contact person of a person who had attended the event. This takes the total count of Tablighi Jamaat related event to 14.
The state has been requesting all those who have attended the Tablighi event to contact the Arogya Sahayavaani and also requested all Muslim leaders and legislators to ensure compliance.
342 people of Karnataka origin had attended the Jamaat event of whom 200 had been quarantined, as per the state Health Minister. Besides that, 62 Malaysians who had been part of the congregation arealso said to have travelled to Karnataka.
Twelve of the Malaysians have been traced and quarantined. 63 of the 342 have been traced and quarantined in Mysuru, and their swabs and samples will be tested only after 14 days as reported.
The only death of a Jamaat related even in Karnataka so far is that of the 60-year-old man from Shira in Tumakuru district who passed away on 27 March and was said to be the first Covid-19 case in the state without a history of international travel.
