Kashmir Not Muslim Ummah Issue But A Bilateral Matter Between New Delhi And Islamabad: UAE Tells Pakistan

Amid Pakistan’s attempts to internationalise the Kashmir issue, United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) Foreign Minister has conveyed to Islamabad that the matter should not be made an issue of the Muslim ummah (community) as it is a dispute between two countries.

The UAE Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan has said that the Kashmir issue is a bilateral one and should be resolved as such instead of making it a Muslim ummah issue.

The UAE FM was on a visit to Pakistan along with his Saudi Arabian counterpart Adel Al Zubair.

According to reports, Pakistani officials said the UAE FM visited Pakistan apparently to express solidarity with Islamabad on the Kashmir issue. However, during his interaction with Pakistani leadership, he conveyed that Kashmir is a bilateral rather than ummah issue and should be resolved through dialogue between India and Pakistan.

Ever since India scrapped the special status of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated it into two union territories, Pakistan is desperately trying to internationalise the issue with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan urging the international community to intervene in the matter. However, the Islamic nation has got little support from the world community.
