Kashmiri Pandits Laud Home Minister Amit Shah For Calling Article 370 Temporary; Demand Its Abolition

Panun Kashmir, an organisation of migrant Kashmiri pandits has welcomed the Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statement on Article 370 of the Constitution. Shah had termed the article as "temporary in nature" while responding to a question from Congress party's Manish Tewari, reports India Today.

Panun Kashmir also expressed that they hold complete faith in the abilities of Shah to decimate the sponsors of terrorism in the valley. They also expressed the hope that under Shah they will be rehabilitated in their more than 5,000-year-old home.

The organisation said in a statement, "The expression of the Home Minister in the Lok Sabha is a statement of truth and most heartening. We say, Article 370 has to go eventually and the time is now. This article was instrumental in creating alienation in a section of Kashmiri muslims and encouraged Pakistan to sponsor terrorism in the state."

The organisation also welcomed the decision of the United Nations Human Rights Council to drop 'Kashmir' from the regular reporting list. The organisation also endorsed Shah's "terrorism would be crushed in Kashmir" statement as right strategy for the region.
