Calling Kejriwal a ‘habitual liar’, estranged Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) co-founder Kumar Vishwas has blamed Delhi Chief Minister (CM) and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal for the statements he made against Arun Jaitley, Indian Express has reported.
He said that his earlier claims were based on Kejriwal’s statements to party workers and that he was simply toeing the party line.
Vishwas made these assertions yesterday (3 May) while appearing before the Delhi High Court (HC) in the defamation case filed by Arun Jaitley against Vishwas and five other party leaders including Kejriwal.
Kejriwal and four others had tendered an apology to Jaitley last month but Vishwas was kept out from it. Vishwas too has regretted the damage caused to Jaitley by the allegations and told the judge that “personally, he also does not want to take the matter further”.
Appearing before Justice RS Endlaw, Vishwas said that either Kejriwal had lied earlier or was lying now and is not providing Vishwas with the documents that he claimed to have in his possession earlier while blaming Kejriwal for the current state of affairs.
Jaitley’s legal counsel Manik Dogra, however, told the court that he wanted Vishwas to apologise as he had claimed to have seen the documents earlier.
Vishwas sought more time from the court to decide the statement that he’ll give to dispose the defamation suit against him and has been granted time till 28 May to come up with the statement.
