The #MeToo storm has engulfed India and caught in the eye of the storm is renowned author Chetan Bhagat who was accused by journalist and author Ira Trivedi of harassing her.
Multiple women raised allegations against influential people like Union Minister M J Akbar and this according to Ms Trivedi caught her attention and made her want to come out with her story where she accuses Bhagat of making her feel uncomfortable and trying to kiss her.
In a piece written by her in The Outlook , she talks about her alleged encounter with the ‘Five Point Someone’ author during the Jaipur Literature Festival in 2010.
Bhagat later hit back at her claims stating that they were false and made with an intent to damage his reputation while tweeting out a mail sent by Ms Trivedi to him in 2013 where she ends with the words “miss you, kiss you”. Chetan Bhagat stated that the email was self-explanatory and asked her not to harm a movement with fake charges
Ira Trivedi in a series of tweet said that Bhagat was manipulating a ‘pop-culture salutation’ and that his defence was childish. She also mentions that she did not call Bhagat for the book launch and that the television show ‘Gumrah’ had invited the two of them separately.
