BySwarajya Staff

In an unprecedented move, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has uploaded a comprehensive audio-visual presentation called ‘Knowing Children Better’ on its official website, reports NDTV. The video series is aimed at counselling adolescents about issues they may face such as exam anxiety, substance abuse, depression, etc.

The ten videos are available in the ‘Counselling’ section of www.cbse.nic.in. Other major issues dealt with by the presentation are aggression, life skills, specific learning disability, internet addiction, among others.

In a related move, the board has also initiated a counselling facility for students preparing for the upcoming Board exams to be held in February and March.

"For the 22nd consecutive year, the CBSE will provide Pre-Examination psychological counselling services to students and parents. The programme is designed as part of the board's outreach programme which caters to the heterogeneous students' and parent's population and vast geographical network of schools," said the Board’s statement.

The psychological counselling facility is already active and students can utilise it till 4 April 2019. It is intended to help students tackle exam anxiety.

Beginning this year, CBSE has launched an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) which can be accessed on the toll-free number 1800 11 8004. Pre-recorded information is provided to students or their parents about better exam preparation, managing stress and time, etc, along with live tele-counselling.

The tele-counselling is conducted by principals and trained counsellors from CBSE schools and is being provided free of cost.
