BySwarajya Staff

In line with the extension of nationwide lockdown by two weeks announced by the government, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a circular to extend the prohibition of domestic and international commercial flight operations till 17 May.

It should be noted that the restriction will not apply to international all-cargo operations and flights specifically approved by the DGCA.

The circular further stated, "However, it is reiterated that foreign and domestic airlines shall be suitably informed about the opening of their operations whether international to/from India or domestic respectively in due course.”

Earlier on Friday evening (1 May), the Home Ministry issued a press release extending the lockdown by two additional weeks effective 4 May.

As per the press release, activities will be regulated in the lockdown period after the profiling of districts falling under Green, Orange and Red Zones. The release adds that the fresh guidelines issued by the Home Ministry give considerable relaxations in the Green and Orange zones.
