Rejecting a complaint against former cricketer and Bharatiya Janata Party East Delhi Lok Sabha candidate Gautam Gambhir for allegedly holding a campaign rally without permission, the returning officer of the parliamentary constituency has said that the BJP candidate was given the approval for holding the road show in several parts of the east Delhi, reports Hindustan Times.
According to the report, the returning officer, K Mahesh, said that permission had been given to Gautam Gambhir for holding road show in several parts of east Delhi, including Dilshad garden - the area mentioned in the complaint filed by his Aam Aadmi Party rival Atishi.
The AAP candidate, in her complaint, had requested the election officials to file an FIR against Gambhir along with barring him from campaigning for 72 hours.
Gambhir, in response to the AAP complaint, had said Atishi is “engaging in negative politics”.
“When you have no vision for the people or nothing else to talk about, you make allegations like these, “ he said adding that the AAP government in Delhi has done nothing which is why it is hiding on the garb of full statehood.
