Lucknow: One More Shop Of Anti-CAA Protester Attached By UP Govt; Auction Of Two Sealed Shops On 16 July

The Lucknow administration on Thursday (2 July) attached one more shop of violent rioter who had damaged public property during the anti-CAA protests in December 2019, reports Indian Express.

It should be noted that as per the orders of the Allahabad High Court on 20 March, the Lucknow administration had stopped the damages recovery process and arrests due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Commencing the recovery process two days ago, the administration has also announced an auction of the two shops that it had attached and sealed earlier.

“We have fixed 16 July as the date for auction of the two shops that were sealed on Tuesday,” said Tehsildar (Sadar) Shambhu Sharan Singh. He also underscored that if the owners of the shops can pay the damages in the coming days, their properties will be opened and auction proceedings will be halted.

The Yogi Adityanath government had previously ordered the attachment of properties of violent rioters who had damaged public property during the anti-CAA riots in the city. In Lucknow, a total of 57 rioters are required to pay up for damages worth Rs 1.55 crore.
