Major General Level Commanders Meet At India-China Border To Diffuse Tension, Meeting Inconclusive

The Major General level commanders from Indian and Chinese sides today (2 June) met at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh in a bid to diffuse tension along the border.

While the meeting remained inconclusive more such meets are expected to take place in the near future. Additionally, Indian Army’s Northern Commander Lt Gen Y K Joshi was present at the 14 corps headquarters to oversee the talks and review operation preparedness.

It was reported earlier today that villagers living in the vicinity of the India-China border had claimed that there has been an unprecedented movement of troops and artillery on the Indian side.

The current standoff is a result of China’s aggressive posture along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in a bid to stop India from constructing strategic infrastructure like roads near the border. India though has ruled out stopping its road construction.
