BySwarajya Staff

Japanese business magnate and SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son on Wednesday offered to supply free electricity to International Solar Alliance (ISA) member countries once the contract to supply power expires after 25 years.

“I promise to provide free power to India as well as other ISA member countries after 25 years of PPA (power purchase agreement). This is my effort to provide equal opportunities to everyone,” Son, who has written multi-billion dollar cheques in India, said at the second RE-Invest conference in Greater Noida, reports LM.

Praising the International Solar Alliance (ISA), which held its first assembly on Wednesday at Re Invest , Son said, “We fully support the vision 2020 set by PM Modi. Cost of Solar power generation is much cheaper in India compared to rest of the world” , reports PVM

The announcement by Son adds to ISA’s atmosphere where the focus is on making the membership available to all United Nations members eligible for ISA membership.

Japan’s SoftBank Group Corp has tied up with India’s Bharti Enterprises Ltd and Taiwan’s Foxconn Technology Co Ltd to form SBG Cleantech, a joint venture that’s active in India’s emerging clean economy.

PM Modi on Tuesday said that with $42 billion in investment and a business potential of $80 billion, India has emerged as the most favourable investment destination for green energy companies.
