Migrants Out, Wall In: First Section Of Donald Trump’s ‘Great Big Beautiful’ US-Mexico Barrier Unveiled

BySwarajya Staff

Unveiling the newly constructed 30 feet (9 m) fence in California, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, on Saturday, said that the administration was checking the all legal options to keep the migrants out, Sky News has reported.

Plans for new border security measures are being looked into by the White House, specifically the same plan that was put into effect when Trump ordered a travel ban to block migrants from seeking asylum in the US.

Countering the move to prevent migrants from crossing the border, Alliance San Diego’s executive director Andrea Guerrero, said it would be "a very drastic action that would have disastrous practical implications for our asylum obligations, for our moral and legal obligations".

The border areas of California, Arizona and Texas will be a part of the mission which has been authorised by the Defence Department from 30 October to 15 December. Barricades will be erected, and fencing and planes would be deployed to move Border Patrol personnel, medical teams and patients as per reports by the Pentagon. However, the migrants trying to cross the border will not be detained by security forces.
