Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das has lauded the upcoming central government scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Yojana’ (PMKSY) as it will transfer money directly to 1.25 crore farmers nationwide, among whom will be 10 lakh beneficiaries from Jharkhand, reports Business Standard.
The scheme is due to be launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 24 February from Uttar Pradesh.
"The prime minister will send money directly to the accounts of 1.25 crore farmers all over the country by pressing a button. About 10 lakh farmers of Jharkhand will benefit from the scheme," noted an official statement quoting Das.
He revealed that programmes will be held to mark the occasion on 24 February in Ormanjhi town on the outskirts of Ranchi in all district headquarters of the state, as well as in 264 blocks, and at these events, certificates of the new scheme would be given out to farmers.
PMKSY was unveiled by the centre in this year’s interim budget and aims to give direct cash benefits to the tune of Rs 6,000 to farmers with less than two hectares of cultivable land.
