Maharashtra's Water Resources Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Girish Mahajan claimed on Tuesday (30 July) that more than 50 Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLAs want to join the BJP ahead of state Assembly election, reports Asian News International (ANI).
The statement by Mahajan came after NCP MLAs Vaibhav Pichad and Sandeep Naik along with Congress party MLA Kalidas Kolambkar tendered their resignation to the state's Assembly's speaker Haribhau Bagade. The trio is set to join the BJP on Wednesday.
However, with the claim, Minister Mahajan also clarified, "But, we also have some limitations. We can not admit everyone." He added that opposition lawmakers had gotten tired with their party leaderships and groupism.
Taking a dig at the NCP, Mahajan said that, "In NCP, their leaders are annoyed with family politics. Pawar's key party leaders now want to join the BJP. You will see in the coming days, many leaders will join our party."
