BySwarajya Staff

A biker in Mumbai’s Eastern Freeway identified as Khajabi Sheikh Naeem injured a policeman by dragging him along with his speeding bike after refusing to stop at a checkpost, The Hindu has reported.

The incident occurred at a police checkpost in Dongri when a team of six cops directed a speeding Naeem to stop at around 7.30 AM yesterday (10 April).

Despite the order, Naeem suddenly increased his speed further and tried to ride away. Assistant Inspector Vijendra Dhurat managed to grab a hold of the bike’s rear handle and was dragged for over 25 feet. Ultimately Naeem lost his balance and fell from the bike as it skidded away. The cop received injuries in the process and was sent for treatment.

As per reports, Naeem was unnecessarily roaming outdoors during the lockdown. He was subsequently arrested and booked. A court has sent him into one month police custody.
