Mysuru, The Maharaja? Post-Dasara Success, Government To Convert City Into All-Year-Long Tourism Destination

This year, Dasara celebrations in Mysuru received an overwhelming response globally, which has led Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy to announce that the government is drafting a plan to make the city into a round-the-year destination for tourism in the state.

He has asked Sa Ra Mahesh, the minister in-charge for tourism, to make a blueprint that can expand Mysuru’s tourism to all year long, as opposed to the 10 days of festivities that it currently witnesses. The government is looking at various tourist spots like Brindavan Gardens, Melukote, Somanathpur Temple, Kodagu etc, The Hindu reported.

Star of Mysore, a local daily, reported that Kumaraswamy’s government is planning to develop Brindavan Gardens like Disneyland. An initial fund of Rs 5 crore has been announced. He said that this project can attract tourism and promote employment for the locals.

It is estimated that about 25 lakh people have visited Mysuru for the Dasara celebrations. Additionally, Swarajya reported that the CM had announced a few days ago about the current four-lane highway being expanded into 10-lane roads. On that note, he said the work will happen in a time-bound manner since they did not want to congest traffic at this point of time.
