NASA To Send The First Woman To Moon Under Its Artemis Mission To Land On The Lunar South Pole

After five decades of space exploration, NASA is now planning to send a woman to the moon by 2024, reports Deccan Chronicle. Till date, 12 humans have walked on the surface of the moon.

The announcement was made after US President Donald Trump declared an additional funding of $1.6 Billion for NASA so that they could restart space exploration again.

Trump has challenged NASA to explore and land at the South Pole of the Moon by 2024. NASA has also shared that the new mission will be called Artemis, after the Greek goddess of the moon.

The first moon visit by NASA was on 20 July 1969. Neil Armstrong was the first person to step on the lunar surface on 21 July, followed by Buzz Aldrin.

NASA's next mission is SpaceX's Falcon Heavy Launch with NASA Technology Payloads, it is supposed to carry around two dozen satellites to space, under the Department of Defense's Space Test Program-2 (STP-2).
