Seven people have died in a helicopter crash that took place in Nepal’s Taplejung district today (Wednesday, 27 February), including the country’s tourism and civil aviation minister, Rabindra Adhikari, reports News18.
Other deceased passengers have been identified as well known hospitality and aviation businessman Ang Tsering Sherpa, the Nepalese prime minister’s personal aide Yubaraj Dahal, two tourism ministry officials, and also a bodyguard of Adhikari.
The helicopter belonging to the Air Dynasty airlines crashed after catching fire from the impact of hitting the Chuchche Dada Hill.
The helicopter was being piloted by Captain Prabhakar KC, who also died along with all the passengers on board.
The minister and the rest of the officials on board were travelling to Pathibhara Temple after having attended a function at Chuhan Danda in Panchthar.
Authorities have reached the spot of the accident, while the government has called for an emergency cabinet meet at the prime minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.
