In a major development, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) with assistance from Tata Sons has built up a 1,000 bed coronavirus facility in the national capital within record 11 days, reports LiveMint.
The hospital, named Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, will have 1,000 bends including 250 ICU beds. Additionally, the fully air-conditioned hospital will be at Air Force land near airport and will be operated by Armed Forces Medical Services.
Earlier, DRDO decided to name different wards of the newly created Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel COVID-19 Hospital in Delhi after the martyrs from the Galwan Valley.
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and ventilator unit of the Hospital has been named after Col Santosh Babu who valiantly pushed back the Chinese aggression at the Galwan Valley and laid his life on the line of duty leading his men from the front.
It should be noted that this hospital is separate from the 10,000-bed capacity COVID-19 Care Centre which has been set up at the premises of Radha Soami Satsang Beas in Delhi's Chhatarpur area.
