In a positive development, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has completed a single lane of the four-lane stretch of 25.54km in just 18 hours, reports Indian Express.
The feat was achieved during development of the road between Vijaypur-Solapur highway (NH 52), and in doing so, NHAI has created a world record.
The development was shared by Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari who confirmed that the achievement would be added in the Limca Book of Records.
He posted on Twitter (as translated from Hindi), “NHAI has recently completed single lane construction work under the four-laning work on the Solapur-Vijapur highway in 18 hours, which will be registered in the 'Limca Book of Records'. ”
He added that over 500 contractual labourers were a part of this achievement and have worked hard for it. He also congratulated the National Highways Authority project manager, officers, all the representatives of the contractor company, and the project officers.
Currently, the 110 km of Solapur-Vijapur highway work is in progress and will be completed by October 2021.
Earlier this month, one NHAI contractor had created a world record for laying Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC) for a four-lane highway of 2,580 meters length within 24 hours.
