Noida Metro Rail Corporation’s (NMRC) Aqua Line has some good news for the passengers. The fares are going to be slightly cheaper than that of Delhi Metro. The final list of fares are likely to be out by November, next month. The fares are expected to be based on the lines of Lucknow Metro, where passengers pay according to the number of stations they commute to.
Financial Express reported that a committee formed by the officials of NMRC will decide on the fares. The committee is said to have submitted its recommendations to Alok Tandon, the Managing Director of NMRC.
Lucknow Metro charges commuters based on the number of stations traveled, as opposed to Delhi Metro’s model of charging the passengers based on the distance traveled. A base charge will be formulated soon as well and the fares are expected to be out soon.
The 29.7 km Aqua Line of Noida Metro will be opened soon for public use. The entire cost of the project is estimated at Rs 5,503 crore and starts from Theta (Greater Noida) to Sector 71, which is in Noida. With this, the metro’s stretch will consist of 21 stations in total.
