Nokia To Soon Be Future Ready: Bharti Airtel Partners With Technology Giant For 5G Equipment Trails

India’s second largest telecom company, Bharti Airtel has collaborated alongside smartphone maker Nokia to conduct trials for the front haul solution for 4G, 5G and enterprise services via a common platform, the Economic Times reports.

The trial is in line with Bharti Airtel’s strategy to ensure its network is future ready to meet the ever-growing demand for high-speed data, which is driven by the digital revolution in India.

“The upgrade of the transport network is also essential to cater to the booming consumption of mobile broadband services and enable world-class digital services,” the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Bharti Airtel, Randeep Sekhon, said in a statement.

The Finn company said that they are testing the solution which has the potential to improve the existing networks performance, as it prepares the 5G network and meets future demands. Further, it would allow service providers to meet the growing demand for bandwidth and also enable 5G services.

Front hauls link the base brand unit and radio, modernising the part of the transport network that is important to deliver high-speed and low latency 5G services. The front haul transport solution from Nokia would help the teleco to reduce the requirement of fibre through the multi-channel bi-directional transmission on a single fibre.
