Northeast Frontier Indian Railways: RPF Rescued 669 Minor Children From Stations And Trains In 2018

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) had in 2018, rescued 669 minor boys and girls from trains and railway stations under the Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway, reports The Hindu.

It has also arrested nine traffickers during the year 2018 while they were trying to shift the girls out of the state through trains, a spokesman was quoted saying by The Hindu.

Five minor boys, who had run away from there homes in Nagaland’s Dimapur, and three of them were rescued from Brahmaputra Mail. From information provided by them, the remaining two were saved from Jan Shatabdi Express at Lumding.

Similarly, a minor boy reported missing was rescued from Chandigarh Express at Katihar Railway station and was handed over to his parents.

The RPF has been successful in rescuing runaway children as well as from the clutches of traffickers regularly along with the arrest of traffickers, the spokesman said.

Rescued children usually are handed over to their parents or various NGOs like Child Line. The RPF regularly conducts checks at railway premises to prevent human trafficking.
