Odisha: Alliance Air Starts Flights Between Jharsuguda and Bhubaneswar Under Centre’s UDAN Scheme

In a boost to the regional connectivity in the eastern part of India, the Air India's subsidiary Alliance Air on Wednesday (5 June) initiated flight operations between Jharsuguda and Bhubaneswar under the Modi government's flagship UDAN scheme, also called Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), reports Economic Times.

A total of 72 passengers travelled from Bhubaneswar to Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda at 9.05am and reached there at 10.10am while 54 others took the return flight from Jharsuguda at 10.35am and reached Bhubaneswar's Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) at 11.35am.

As per an Airports Authority of India (AAI) official, the flights will be operated on a daily basis. The Director of Jharsuguda's Veer Surendra Sai Airport, Sudesh Kumar Chouhan also apprised the mediapersons about the start of Alliance Air flights between Jharsuguda and Raipur from Wednesday (5 June) evening under the UDAN programme.

The flight between Raipur and Jharsuguda will operate daily. While the flight will arrive at Jharsuguda by 5.45pm everyday, it will depart at 6.10pm, said Chouhan, as reported by The New Indian Express.

The inauguration of the flight operations were attended by Bargarh MP Suresh Pujari, Odisha Health & Family Welfare Minister Naba Kishore Das, Brajrajnagar MLA Kishore Mohanty and Joint Secretary of Ministry of Civil Aviation, Usha Padhee.
