The Covid-19 tally in Odisha saw an addition of 74 more cases raising the total number of positive cases in the state to 1,052, said the health department on Wednesday (20 May).
The death toll increased to six after a 70-year-old male from Khordha district died due to the deadly virus.
"Sorry to inform that a 70 year male of Khordha district, having history of comorbidity of hypertension, was admitted in AIIMS Emergency yesterday with respiratory distress and passed away the same day. He has tested positive for COVID-19," tweeted the health department.
With this, the active cases in the state stood at 739 while 307 persons have recovered so far.
Ganjam district has reported the highest 313 Covid-19 positive cases so far, followed by 174 infections in Jajpur, 122 in Balasore, 95 in Bhadrak, 71 in Khurdha, 44 in Puri, 40 in Kendrapada, 36 in Cuttack, 33 in Boudh, 28 in Jagatsinghpur, and 27 in Sundargarh.
Other districts that have reported under 20 cases include Angul (17), Mayurbhanj (11), Nayagarh (10), Keonjhar (8), Balangir (6), Sambalpur (3), Kandhamal (3), two each in Kalahandi, Jharsuguda, Malkangiri, Dhenkanal, and Deogarh, and one in Koraput.
