Pakistani Terror Group Hizbul Mujahideen Is Almost Wiped Out In South Kashmir: J&K DGP

Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Director General of Police Dilbag Singh on Monday (20 January) said the terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen was on the verge of being completely wiped out in the southern part of the Union Territory (UT) of J&K, Daily Excelsior tweeted.

Singh’s claim came after the Indian security forces eliminated three terrorists belonging to Pakistan-based Hizbul Mujahideen in an encounter at Wanchi in Shopian district of South Kashmir.

While addressing the media in Srinagar, he also informed that the three terrorists including a top commander of the Hizbul Waseem Ahmed Wani were killed in an encounter in Shopian district.

“He was active since 2017 and had 19 FIRs against him. Adil Bashir Sheikh of Zainapora and Jehangir, were the other two accomplices of Wani,” J&K DGP Dilbag Singh was quoted as saying.

Adil Bashir Sheikh, who was a special police officer posted with former MLA Aijaz Ahmed, joined the terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen after decamping with seven AK-47s and pistol in 2018. He was involved in the killing of four policemen and four civilians in Shopian district, the DGP informed.

Responding to a question on whether it was painful to kill a former policeman turned terrorist, the DGP said, “Whosoever goes against the law of the land must face the music.”
