‘Pakistan’s True Intent Is Terror’, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh Says, After Maiden Kartarpur Corridor Talks

Even while keeping the focus on the modalities of the Kartarpur Corridor, the Indian delegation did not bring up the issue of Pakistan’s support for Khalistani terrorists during the maiden official India-Pakistan meeting to discuss the Sikh pilgrimage route. Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has, however, stated that Pakistan’s agenda remains disruptive and hypocritical as it keeps supporting terror modules in Punjab, reports The Hindu.

An official who attended the 14 March talks explained the reasoning behind not including the issue of Khalistani terrorists on the agenda.

“We did not want to give Pakistan an opportunity to deviate from discussing the modalities of the corridor, which is a priority for us. Had we brought in other issues, they would have transgressed, defeating the purpose,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Khalistan movement remains active overseas, with a group called ‘Sikhs for Justice’, based in North America, planning to hold a convention at the Kartarpur shrine on the secessionist theme of ‘Khalistan-Referendum 2020’.

Captain Singh has been vocal about criticising Pakistan’s duplicitous strategy of encouraging Khalistani terrorists.

“While Pakistan Prime Minister talks of peace, their Army Chief continues to promote his evil designs. Number of ISI-backed terror modules busted in Punjab in recent months indicated their true intent,” he stated.
