Petrol Price In Pakistan To Touch Rs 108 Per Litre Under Imran Khan Who Once Demanded It Be Sold For Rs 58

Petrol prices in Pakistan have been hiked to Rs 108 per litre by Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) based on a summary sent to the board by Prime Minister Imran Khan, Pakistan Today has reported.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had proposed a Rs 14.37 per litre hike on petrol prices but it was scrapped in favour of a Rs 9 per litre hike in petrol prices and Rs 4.89 hike in diesel prices. This will lead to petrol and diesel being sold at Rs 108 and Rs 122.32 per litre.

This decision would be implemented after the approval of Prime Minister Imran Khah who appears to have been disagreeing with the proposal.

Incidentally, such a hike if implement would be ironical considering Imran Khan was at the forefront of demanding that petrol be sold at Rs 58 per litre in 2015.

Imran Khan had at that time also strongly condemned a rise in petrol prices.
